Sunderland at Manchester United to offer triple for Gibson, Wes Brown and John O'Shea during the transfer window this summer.
Brown and O'Shea completed his move to the Stadium of light, but Gibson got through to Wearside.
Ferguson believes that the reason for the move to Sunderland will not change, "post", as they change their offers in the Republic of Ireland international.poles moved
"He had a point to go, and somewhere along the line of Sunderland, I do not know when, I think Sunderland is to change the rules of the game," said Ferguson.
"What I could understand, given the offer, then changed to this angered Darren and I think that is correct.
"If you can not trust them one day, wait up to two days."
Ferguson accepts Gibson, who left to visit the United States, as well as United look to their future left in limbo by the collapse of Sunderland.
"Darron was undecided what to do, when we were not to come back here and it would be good both ways," added Ferguson.
"He seems to be an uncertain time."
